One of the hallmarks of the Red Hat Society is there aren't many rules, though there are nice traditions. The only big rules for joining are that you are a woman who wants to have lighthearted, and often wacky, fun with other ladies, and that you would enjoy showing off your own Red and Purple regalia in public!

Here's some Red Hat Society links about joining the Red Hatters in general, and the Crafty Ladies Chapter (ID 13395) in particular.

  • Register as a Supporting Member for an annual subscription fee of $20.00. This will give you and ID and password so you can login to the RHS web page. You will be able to do things from that point like find an Official Chapter near you, and get discounts on merchandise.

  • Contact the Crafty Ladies directly using the form.

Things you should know about being a Red Hatter in the Crafty Ladies

Crafty Ladies has annual membership dues of $5, payable each April. This in addition to your supporting member dues and are used to pay for registering our chapter with The Red Hat Society. When you first join, you'll get a Kazoo to use in celebrating birthdays or just because, and access to the Member's Area of this web site. You'll also want to order your cute permanent Crafty Ladies name badge from Linda. It costs $12.00.

Then ...

  1. For every function or activity, always wear purple clothes and a red hat; don’t forget your name badge!!

  2. Always bring your Kazoo (just in case!)

  3. Always bring your Calendar for setting future dates.

  4. During your birthday month, reverse the colors -- wear a PURPLE hat and a red outfit!!

  5. A Scarlet Sparkle is when you earn a recognition, get a raise, receive a special award, are complimented for a terrific job, etc. Remember to share your accomplishments with us.

  6. Share all the great places to shop for inexpensive Red Hat adornments. (We all want to look glitzy and fashionable!)
  7. We share being Queen. Each member is Queen for one month, where she plans and coordinate the activities for that month. We rotate alphabetically thru the member list. Depending on the group's size you'll be Queen every year or so.
